meet the herd

My dream of living in France led me to discover the remarkable French Camargue horse. Having grown up around horses from a young age, I thought I knew what made a horse special but this breed was different.

The Camargue horse has remained so pure and authentic, living in semi-wild herds across the vast wetlands of the Camargue region in southern France. Shaped by nature, freedom, and tradition, these horses possess a unique strength, intelligence, and spirit.

For centuries, the French gardians have relied on these brave and agile horses to work cattle and gather the region’s famous black bulls. Their courage, endurance, and deep connection to their environment make them an extraordinary breed unlike any other.

How they found me

Camargue horses are quite rare in the Netherlands, yet somehow two young horses found their way into my life: Finou, a mare, and Frederico, a stallion. From the very beginning, they brought the spirit of the Camargue into my world and deepened my connection with this extraordinary breed.

Later, Ondine joined our herd. Sadly, she passed away in April 2025. Her loss is deeply felt, but her presence and legacy remain very much alive. Ondine played an important role in helping so many people through our work together. She was also a vital connection within the herd and a trusted companion to me. Because of the profound impact she had on both humans and horses, she will always have a special place here.

Some time later, Valeo, a gelding, unexpectedly became part of our herd. His arrival felt like a gift, and he has proven to be a wonderful addition to our team. With his unique character and gentle presence, he brings his own special qualities to the herd and to the experiences we share with others.

Together, these horses form the heart of Camargue Within. Each of them has their own story, personality, and wisdom to share, and each contributes in their own way to the connection, healing, and growth that take place here.

Strong-willed, dynamic, and always honest.

Finou has a vibrant personality and a remarkable ability to reveal what lies beneath the surface. Where boundaries are unclear, energy is blocked, or old patterns are holding you back, she will gently, but unmistakably bring them into awareness. Her directness invites growth, helping you reconnect with your own strength, clarity, and authenticity.

Frederico

The silent guardian and observer.

As a breeding stallion, Frederico does not participate directly in sessions with clients. Yet from his own space, he is always involved. Time and time again, he seems to confirm and reinforce the messages offered by the other horses. With his powerful presence, wisdom, and natural leadership, he remains an important part of the herd and the work that unfolds here.

After taking time to settle into his new life, Valeo has truly stepped into himself. He now carries the quiet confidence and noble presence of a king. His energy encourages people to recognize their own strengths and potential. By simply being who he is, he invites others to do the same, bringing out the very best in those around him.
